Purple is the color of the royal. The mix of blue and red, the cool and warm. And when we think purple, we remember Prince.
There is something about Prince’s sex appeal that is beyond the binary of feminine/masculine, like his signature color and the unpronounceable symbol (later dubbed Love Symbol #2) he adopted as his name when he became “Artist Formerly Known as Prince”–a combination of the gender symbols for Mars and Venus (Male/Female).
Ensemble is a complement of clothes and accessories not on a body, and an outfit is when someone is wearing them. What Prince wore on a mannequin just looks ridiculous–costume-like in garish bright colors and decoration. However, when all the stuff was actually on him, and he wore it with attitude, the fit was sick AF. He exuded a confidence that was unmistakable no matter how short or freakish he was because he was original and he owned his style.
